Meet Nabeil Nasr: Traveller, Explorer & Mountain Lover

Hello, I’m Nabeil

I’m Nabeil Nasr, a traveller, hiker and explorer based in Manchester, England. I’m happiest with a rucksack on my back, a flask of tea in my hand and a trail I’ve never walked before.

This site is where I share the places I’ve been, the mountains I’ve climbed and the things I’ve learned along the way. I started it for the same reason I started hiking: I wanted to share the good stuff with other people.

Where It All Started

I grew up in Manchester, and for a long time I never realised how lucky I was to live where I do. Within an hour or two of the city you can be on the moors of the Peak District, the fells of the Lake District or the ridges of Snowdonia.

My first proper hike was nothing special. I was underprepared, wearing the wrong shoes, and I got rained on the whole way up. But when the clouds cleared at the top and the valley opened up below me, I was hooked. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.

From Local Trails to Faraway Places

What began as weekend walks around Greater Manchester slowly grew into something bigger. Day hikes became long weekends, long weekends became multi-day treks, and eventually I was planning whole trips around mountains, coastlines and cities I’d always wanted to see.

Each place has taught me something different:

  • Mountains taught me patience and humility
  • Cities taught me to wander without a plan
  • Strangers taught me that kindness needs no common language
  • Bad weather taught me to carry a spare layer and keep a sense of humour

“I love the scents of winter! For me, it’s all about the feeling you get when you smell pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread and spruce.”

What I Love Most

Mountains – There is nothing like the quiet at a summit, or the tired, happy walk back down. For me, being a mountain lover is less about conquering peaks and more about the time spent getting there: the early starts, the shared flasks, the conversations that only happen on a trail.

Slow travel – I’d rather spend a week really getting to know one place than rush through five. The best moments usually happen when I’ve stopped following the itinerary.

Local food and culture – Some of my favourite memories are of simple meals in small village cafés after a long day on foot.

When you visit, you can expect:

  • Hiking guides: honest trail write-ups, including difficulty, timings and what to expect, not just the pretty photos
  • Travel itineraries: practical plans for real trips, with budget tips and things I’d do differently
  • Gear and packing advice: what I carry, what I’d leave at home and what I learned the hard way
  • Stories from the road: the funny, the challenging and the unexpectedly beautiful
  • Manchester adventures: the best day trips and weekend escapes from the city

Let’s Explore Together

Whether you’re a seasoned trekker planning your next big climb, or someone in Manchester looking for a first walk in the hills, you’re welcome here.

If you have a question, a trail recommendation or just want to say hello, get in touch. I read every message. And if you’re ever heading out on the Peak District trails, say hi if you see a stranger with a flask and far too many snacks. It might be me.

See you out there,
Nabeil Nasr
